Joven

Unaged gem for a pure and vibrant Agave essence

Information

Joven

Joven, a term originating from Spanish meaning “young,” holds significance in the world of spirits, particularly in the domains of mezcal and tequila. In the context of mezcal, Joven denotes one of the classifications defined by the Norm. It refers to white mezcal that undergoes no treatment after distillation. While it’s also referred to as blanco, joven remains the traditional and preferred term. This class of mezcal preserves the pure essence of the agave, offering a raw and unadulterated expression of the spirit’s characteristics.

In the realm of tequila, Joven manifests as Gold Tequila or Tequila Oro. This product arises from the fusion of white Tequila with aged, extra-aged, or ultra-aged Tequilas. Often referred to as Tequila joven or gold, this blend incorporates various ingredients like caramel coloring, natural oak or Encino oak extract, glycerin, and sugar-based syrup. This infusion of components lends a unique golden hue and a complex flavor profile to the final product.

Joven mezcal and Gold Tequila, whether unaged or blended, respectively, offer distinct and versatile drinking experiences. They embody the vibrant and youthful spirit of their namesake, inviting enthusiasts to savor the rich traditions and diverse flavors of Mexico’s revered agave spirits.
